Which tool do you actually need?
Most image problems come down to one of four things: the file is the wrong format for where it is going, it is too large, it is the wrong shape, or something about it is wrong on the inside — the DPI, the colour, the location stored in its metadata. The tools below are grouped that way rather than by what they are called.
The file is too big
Start with the cropper, then the resizer, and only then compression. Removing pixels you do not need is free; compressing the ones you keep is not. If you have a hard limit to hit — a 2 MB upload cap, a 500 KB email attachment — use compress to an exact KB size, which searches for the quality setting that lands under your target. The file size estimator tells you roughly what a given set of dimensions and quality will weigh before you commit.
The file is the wrong format
Anything that refuses to open — a .webp from a website, a .heic from an iPhone, an .avif from a news site — goes through one of the converters. If you only want to look at the file rather than convert it, the WEBP viewer opens it in place. For documents made of photographs, image to PDF puts them in one file in the right order.
The shape or orientation is wrong
The cropper handles framing and aspect ratios; the rotate and flip tool fixes sideways phone photos without re-encoding anything it does not have to. The aspect ratio calculator works out the second dimension when you know the first and the ratio you need.
Something is wrong inside the file
Print jobs that come back the wrong size usually need the DPI and print size calculator or change image DPI. Photos you are about to publish should go through the EXIF viewer and remover first — camera files routinely carry GPS coordinates, device serial numbers and timestamps. For design work, the colour picker pulls exact hex values out of an image and the favicon generator produces every icon size a browser asks for.
The same three rules apply to all of them
- Nothing is uploaded. Every tool here decodes and re-encodes the file in your own browser using the Canvas API. There is no server to queue behind, no size cap and no account.
- Work from the largest original you have. Each conversion of an already-compressed file adds a little more damage. One export from the original beats three from a copy.
- Resize before you compress. It is the one ordering that consistently produces a smaller file that still looks right.
