How to use this calculator

Type the width and height your image has today into the two top boxes. Then type the width you want in the "new width" box — the height fills itself in automatically. Use those two numbers in the resize settings of our converter and the picture will keep its shape exactly.

Why proportions matter

Marketplaces such as Etsy, Amazon and eBay reject or awkwardly crop pictures that do not match their expected shape. Forcing a wide photo into a square field stretches faces and product edges, which reads as low quality even when the file itself is sharp. Cropping to the right ratio first, then resizing, always looks better than letting a platform do it for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about image conversion.

An aspect ratio is the relationship between an image's width and its height, written as width:height. A 1920x1080 image has a 16:9 ratio, meaning it is 16 units wide for every 9 units tall.

Keep the ratio the same. Enter your original width and height, then change one of the new values — this calculator fills in the other so the image keeps its proportions and never looks squashed.

1:1 for feed squares, 4:5 for portrait feed posts, 9:16 for stories and reels, and 16:9 for YouTube thumbnails and video covers.

Changing the ratio by cropping removes pixels at the edges but keeps quality in what remains. Stretching to a new ratio distorts the picture, which is why matching ratios matters.
