Why convert WEBP to PDF?

WEBP is the image format Google designed for the web, and it is what you get when you save a picture from most websites in Chrome or Edge. It is small and sharp, but plenty of software still treats it as an unknown file: older Office versions, many scanners' document systems and the upload forms for claims, rental applications, visas and school paperwork. Those forms almost always accept PDF. A PDF also keeps several images together, in order, as one document you can email or print.

How it works

  1. Your browser decodes each WEBP itself (every current browser supports the format natively).
  2. Each image is drawn onto a white page sized to the picture, so nothing is cropped or stretched, and stored as a 92% quality JPEG.
  3. The pages are written into a standard PDF that opens in every reader, browser and phone.

Keeping the PDF small

WEBP files are compact, but a PDF page holds a JPEG, which can be larger for the same picture. For a long document, shrink the images first with the image resizer (around 1600 pixels on the long edge reads well on screen and on paper) or compress them.

Need a picture, not a document?

If the site or app only wants an image, skip the PDF and use the WEBP to JPG converter or WEBP to PNG to keep transparency.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about image conversion.

Choose one or more .webp images above and press Create PDF. Each image becomes one page, in the order you picked them, and a single PDF downloads. It works on Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android and Chromebook.

Yes. Select them all at once; each becomes a page of the same PDF. Rename the files with numbers first if the order matters.

No. Every WEBP is decoded by your own browser and the PDF is assembled on your device, so receipts, IDs and screenshots stay private.

Pages are white, so transparent areas print as white. Each image is stored as a high-quality JPEG inside the PDF, which keeps the file small.

PDF pages are still images, so an animated WEBP becomes its first frame. Use the WEBP to GIF converter to keep the animation.

Many insurance, school, HR and government portals accept only PDF or JPG. Converting the WEBP to PDF (or to JPG) gets it accepted without changing what the picture shows.
