Common size limits worth knowing

  • Website images — aim for 100–200 KB so pages stay fast and Core Web Vitals stay green.
  • Email attachments — Gmail caps a whole message at 25 MB, but keep individual photos under 1 MB.
  • Passport and visa portals — most accept 240 KB or less; some go as low as 100 KB.
  • Marketplace listings — Etsy, eBay and Amazon all prefer large dimensions with moderate compression.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about image conversion.

The tool re-saves your image at gradually lower quality until it lands under the kilobyte limit you set, then stops at the best quality that fits.

Yes. Choose or drop a whole batch; every image is compressed separately to fit the target and you can download them all as a ZIP.

No. Compression happens in your browser using the same canvas engine the converters use — the file never leaves your device.

Under 200 KB for website images, under 1 MB for email attachments, and under 240 KB for most passport photo portals.

If the target is extremely small for a very large photo, reduce the maximum width as well — fewer pixels means fewer kilobytes.

Each JPG re-save loses a little detail. Always compress from the original file rather than from an already-compressed copy.
