Pixel Porter Chrome extension – Privacy Policy

Summary

Pixel Porter ("Pixel Porter: Save Images as JPG, PNG & WebP") converts images on your own device. It does not collect, store, sell or share any personal or sensitive user data. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no server of its own. This policy covers only the browser extension; the website webpconverttojpg.com has its own privacy policy.

What the extension does with images

When you choose "Save image as → JPG / PNG / WebP" on an image, or save images from the toolbar popup, the extension downloads that image from the same address the web page already uses, converts it inside your browser with the browser's own image decoder and canvas, and hands the result to Chrome's downloads manager. Files you drop into the "Convert files" tab are read from your computer and converted the same way. Images and files are never uploaded to us or to anyone else, and nothing is kept after the conversion finishes.

Data we collect

None. Specifically, the extension does not collect:

• personally identifiable information, health, financial or authentication information;
• personal communications, location, or web browsing history;
• user activity such as clicks, keystrokes or page content — the list of images on a page is built only when you open the popup, shown to you, and discarded when the popup closes;
• the images or files you convert.

Settings stored in your browser

Your preferences — JPG and WebP quality, background colour, maximum size, file-name pattern, download folders and default format — are saved with chrome.storage.sync. Chrome keeps them in your browser profile and, if you use Chrome sync, syncs them to your other devices through your Google account. We cannot see them. Removing the extension deletes them.

Permissions and why they are needed

• Context menus – adds the "Save image as" entry to the right-click menu of images.
• Downloads – saves the converted image, or a ZIP of images, to your Downloads folder.
• Storage – remembers the settings described above.
• Active tab and scripting – only after you right-click an image or click the toolbar button, lets the extension read that one tab to list its images or read the image you chose. No code runs on web pages at any other time.
• Offscreen document – decodes SVG, HEIC and TIFF images, which need a page to be converted.
• Optional site access – not granted when you install. If an image's website blocks downloads, Chrome asks whether to allow that one website (or, only if you turn it on in Settings, all websites) so the image can be fetched. You can decline, and you can remove access at any time in Settings or on chrome://extensions.

Third parties and remote code

The extension sends no data to third parties and loads no code from the internet: every script, and the HEIC decoder (libheif, compiled to WebAssembly), ships inside the extension package reviewed by the Chrome Web Store. The only network requests it makes are for the images you ask it to save, to the websites that host them. Links in the extension to webpconverttojpg.com open ordinary web pages in a new tab.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Because the extension collects no user data, there is nothing to sell, transfer, use for advertising, use to determine creditworthiness, or let humans read.

Children

The extension does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If a future version changes how data is handled — for example an optional paid tier — this page will be updated before that version is published, with the date above changed, and the store listing's privacy answers updated to match.
